The Department of East Asian Studies in the Faculty of Arts
& Science at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time
teaching-stream position in the area of Korean Language. The appointment will
be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream with an expected start
date of July 1, 2019, or shortly thereafter.

Successful applicants should have an MA or PhD (preferred)
degree in Korean Language (e.g. linguistics, language pedagogy), or a related
area by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter. Native or near native
Korean fluency is expected together with an excellent command of English.
Candidates must have substantial experience and proven excellence in teaching
Korean as a second language in a degree granting program, preferably in the
North American context. This includes lecture preparation and delivery and
curriculum development. Additionally, candidates must possess a demonstrated
commitment to excellent pedagogical practices and a demonstrated interest in teaching-related
scholarly activities.

Evidence of excellence in teaching and pedagogical inquiry can
be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, awards and accolades,
presentations at significant conferences, the teaching dossier submitted as
part of the application including a strong teaching statement of teaching
philosophy, sample syllabi, course materials, and teaching evaluations, as well
as strong letters of reference from referees of high standing.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The
successful candidate will teach courses in the Korean language (at the
undergraduate level, including Academic & Professional Korean) and assist
in the other activities of the Korean Language Program. For further information
