History
The Korean Language in America was first published in 1995 as a set of proceedings from the first annual national conference of the American Association of Teachers of Korean (AATK), and continued to be edited and published as proceedings of the AATK annual meetings by the conference chairs once a year until 2005.
The KLA evolved into selected proceedings with the appointment of the first Editor-in-Chief (Dr. Hye Sook Wang, 2005–2014), and finally became a peer-reviewed journal in 2008, starting with Vol. 13.
From Vol. 19 (2015), KLA entered a partnership with the Penn State University Press and become a bi-annual publication with the initiative of the second Editor-in-Chief (Dr. Susan Strauss, 2014-2017).
KLA is included in SCOPUS since October 2017.
KLA is published both online and in print, and all the previous issues are available in JSTOR.
