Call for papers

The 26th Annual Conference of the National Council of Less Commonly Taught Languages, April 21-23, 2023 

Location: The Crowne Plaza Chicago-Northbrook, IL  

Dear Colleagues,  

 I would like to invite papers for a colloquium on Korean language education in the upcoming 26th Annual Conference of the National Council of Less Commonly Taught Languages. The colloquium invites contributions that will explore pedagogical approaches, research-informed practices, and scholarly research on Korean language education through the latest theories in SLA and foreign language pedagogy. The theme includes but not limited to  


    1. application of theories related to second and foreign language learning  
    2. strategies and techniques related to active learning  
    3. integration of technology into the language classroom 
    4. effective practices in planning, teaching and evaluation 
    5. innovative teaching methods 
    6. experiential learning, community engagement and service learning 

The block of time for colloquia is 1 hour and 30 minutes (typically 4-5 presenters/discussants). Colloquium organizer will address topics that will foster dialogue among attendees and also address the conference theme. Subsequently, papers of this colloquia will be published as a special issue theme on Korean language in the Journal of Less Taught Commonly Languages.
