2023 Graduate Student Representative Candidate Nomination

Dear AATK members,

AATK Board appoints bi-annually a Graduate Student Representative for a two-year term. Current Graduate Student representative, Eunsun You (University of Hawaii), will conclude her term in June 2023. Therefore, we are inviting AATK members to nominate candidates for the 2023-2025 Graduate Student Representative.

Responsibilities

The Graduate Student Representative, who serves without compensation for a two-year term, has several responsibilities, including:

1. Representing AATK graduate students on the AATK Board.
2. Advising on the activities, affairs, and management of graduate student-related issues within the Association.
3. Planning and participating in activities and projects, such as:

• Attending two annual board meetings in June (during the AATK Annual Meeting) & November (during the ACTFL Convention) and reporting on AATK graduate student-related issues and activities. Travel assistants will be provided to help cover the travel costs.
• Participation in AATK Colloquia.
• Organizing graduate student-focused activities and events, such as graduate student gatherings and forums at the annual AATK meetings

Eligibility

Candidates for the Graduate Student Representative position must:

1. Be a current AATK member.
2. Hold a full-time graduate student status (Ph.D.) at a U.S. graduate program and commit to a full 2-year term (2023-2025).
3. Have attended the AATK annual workshop and conference at least twice (not necessarily in consecutive years).

The Nomination Process

Nominations will be accepted from June 1 to June 11, 2023.  Any AATK member can nominate a candidate.  Please complete the nomination form and attach the nominee’s CV.

Selection and Appointment

The board will consider all nominations during the June 2023 AATK meeting and select the Graduate Student Representative. The newly appointed  Graduate Student Representative will be announced at the business meeting on June 17.
