The 28th AATK Annual Meeting - Local Chair's Message - Very Important!

Dear AATK members,

Greetings from Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly Love!

My name is Haewon Cho, and I am the local chair of the 28th AATK Conference and Workshop, which will be held from June 15-17  at the University of Pennsylvania. I am collaborating with my colleagues in the Korean Language Program (Siwon Lee, Hyesun Jang, and Hyobin Won) to organize this exciting event. We are thrilled to host the conference at Penn and are looking forward to having you on Penn’s beautiful campus in June!

We would also like to bring your attention to an important change regarding conference accommodation. This year, all participants are requested to book their hotel rooms on their own. Please read the following messages carefully regarding conference accommodation.

1. Hotel: The main hotel for the 2023 AATK Conference and Workshop is the Sheraton Philadelphia University City Hotel, (Sheraton Philadelphia University City, 3549 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104), which is a quick ten-minute walk from the conference venue.

We have a block of 90-100 rooms at the hotel, which will be available on a first come, first serve basis. The hotel is offering a special conference rate ($179 plus tax/night) until Monday, May 15, 2023, so please make sure to book by this date if you plan to stay at the Sheraton. Parking at the hotel is $19 plus tax/day. 

Drexel University, Penn's neighboring school, is planning to hold its graduation ceremony from June 14-16. We are anticipating a high volume of visitors in the University City area (where Penn is located) and Philadelphia. We strongly recommend you reserve a hotel room at your earliest convenience to secure accommodation for the conference.

2. Booking: Please click here to book at the group rate for AATK 2023 Conference. You may also call the hotel directly at 1-888-627-7071. You need to select a date between the 14th of June and the 18th of June to receive the conference rate. When you book by phone, please indicate that you are participating in the AATK 2023 Conference to take advantage of AATK's conference rate. Please read the following information carefully before booking:

Although a double room (2-bedded room) has a maximum occupancy of 4 guests, the total bill of a room can be split between 2 credit cards only. It is strongly recommended that you prepay for your reservation.
Each guest will be required to show their ID to receive a key for the guest room.

3. Room Sharing

If you share a room with your colleague, book your room using the link provided above (or here) and call the hotel to add the second person's name. Please note that both of the guests' names should be on the reservation to check in.
The first person who arrives to check in will be required to put down their credit card for incidentals. The total cost of the room can be split between two cards, but the person with their credit card on file will be responsible for incidentals.

4. Other Accommodation Options: In addition to the Sheraton, there are other hotel options available in the University City area nearby Penn and Center City, which is across the river from University City. There are also plenty of AirBnB options available in Philly.
