Dear Colleague,

The Georgetown University Linguistics Department (GU) is pleased to announce our 2023 STARTALK teacher training program, Task-based Training for Critical Language Teachers, is now accepting applications!
The GU-STARTALK Task-based Training for Critical Language Teachers is a free hybrid program designed to introduce K-16 teachers to task-based language teaching (TBLT), an instructional approach grounded in second language acquisition (SLA) research.
Through virtual and in-person learning opportunities this summer, participants will gain foundational knowledge about the principles of SLA, the theoretical foundation of TBLT, and how to design a curriculum that aligns with how research shows that languages are best learned.
If you are a K-16 teacher in the greater D.C.–Maryland–Virginia area and teach Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Persian, or Russian, we invite you to visit our website to learn more! https://startalk.georgetown.edu/home

You can fill out an e-application at https://georgetown.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_eeBTII3bfteOPH0

The deadline for applications is February 6, 2023.

Our web page also includes a link to a short video series with FAQs about our program. Should you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out. Thank you!

Best wishes,

The GU-STARTALK team
