Penn State’s Institute for Korean Studies (IKS) is hosting Fall 2021 Talk Series. Please join us for a talk by Dr. Kyung-Eun Yoon.

Topic: Formulating complainability and constructing social identities and relations in complaining activity
Talk description: Dr. Kyung-Eun Yoon will be presenting the ideas from her book, Complaining as a Sociocultural Activity. This presentation will first examine how Korean speakers formulate complainability to convince the addressees. It will then explore how the participants construct various social identities and relationships in the particular settings. The talk will shed light on the complex aspects of the complaining activity in Korean interaction.
