The 2011 Summer Study Abroad Program
in Seoul
California State University, Los Angeles is pleased to
announce the availability of a scholarship for the four-week SLI Summer
Intensive Korean Program at Korea University, Seoul, Korea.

Duration: | June 30, 2011 – July 29, 2011 |
Hosting Institution: | Department of Modern Languages and Literatures |
Level of instruction: | Novice High, Intermediate and Advanced |
Requirements: | Students are required to participate in the full program, including the orientation (Selected students will be notified of the orientation date). |
Benefits: | Scholarship covers tuition and fees, room, health insurance, oral and written proficiency testing fees and $500 for food. Participants are responsible for air fare and personal expenses. |
Curriculum Information: | - Four weeks in intensive language learning, involving classroom activities for 6 hours per day and a variety of cultural activities. |
Eligibility: | - 18 years of age or older on July 5, 2011 |
APPLICATION AND SELECTION CRITERIA: Only 25 will be selected. Initial
screening is based on a completed application, unofficial transcripts from previous high school (freshman) or
college work. Finalists will have to submit a letter of recommendation and official transcript, and take oral and written tests in Korean.

INFORMATION ON HOSTING INSTITUTION: Since 2007, CSULA has been offering the
federally-funded Korean program as part of the California State University
Consortium for the Strategic Language Initiative (SLI), which is designed to provide
selected students with the opportunity to develop strategic and diplomatic
expertise in the Korean language.
