KOREA FOUNDATION
GRADUATE TA FELLOWSHIP GRANT
- Extended deadline: March
1, 2011
Sponsored by Korea Foundation (KF), American Association of Teachers of
Korean (AATK) is pleased to announce a call for proposal for a teaching
fellowship for graduate students teaching Korean language. The purpose of this
program is to expand and enhance Korean language education in America by
providing stipend for graduate teaching assistants (TA) in those institutions
which cannot afford to hire regular instructors to offer Korean language
courses. The funding priority will be given to those institutions which:
1) Want to develop a new Korean language program from the scratch, or to
upgrade an existing tutorial/self-instructional/critical language program to a
regular program
2) Need an extra instructor to expand Korean language course offerings
3) Cannot afford to provide a drill instructor for a faculty such that the
faculty is overloaded with too many teaching hours
4) Want to create separate tracks between heritage and non-heritage students.
The funding is initially for one year with the possibility of renewal for the
second year pending the evidence of the effectiveness and promise of the
program. The application should be submitted by a faculty who is in charge or
support of Korean language program. The application material should include an
application letter along with the application form in the attachment, as well
as an endorsement letter from the head of the academic unit in which the Korean
language program is housed. All application material should be submitted
electronically to Prof. Hae-Young Kim, the Executive Secretary (haeyoung@duke.edu) by March 1, 2011.
The application will be reviewed by the evaluation committee which consist of
AATK officers and some executive board members.
