AATK Next Gen Fellowships

In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the American Association of Teachers of Korean (AATK), Kong & Park and Hawoo Publishing have generously established an annual scholarship fund of $6,000 to support graduate student members of AATK. This initiative is intended to promote and recognize the academic contributions of graduate students who present at the AATK Annual Conference or submit manuscripts to Korean Language in America (KLA).

All graduate students who present at the AATK Annual Conference or submit to KLA will be automatically considered; no separate application is required. Award recipients will be selected through a review process, with further details provided below.

This scholarship program is intended to foster excellence in scholarly research and active participation in academic discourse among graduate students. We encourage all eligible students to continue their valuable contributions to the field through conference presentations and publications.

AATK 30주년을 기념하여 공앤박과 도서출판 하우에서 AATK 소속 대학원생 회원들을 위해 매년 총 $6,000의 장학기금을 지원하기로 결정하였습니다. 이 장학금은 AATK 연례학회에 참석하여 발표하거나 Korean Language in America (KLA)에 논문을 투고하는 대학원생들의 학술 활동을 장려하기 위함입니다.

아래 장학금은 별도의 신청 절차 없이, AATK 연례학회에서 발표하거나 KLA에 논문을 투고한 대학원생들을 대상으로 심사가 이루어지고, 심사를 통해 선정된 수상자에게 장학금이 수여됩니다.

이번 장학금은 대학원생 여러분의 활발한 학회 발표와 학술지 투고를 장려하기 위한 취지로 마련되었습니다. 많은 관심과 적극적인 참여를 부탁드립니다.

AATK Hawoo Presentation Award (three awards of $1,000 per year)

Description: Each year, three AATK presenters will be selected through a review process to receive $1,000 each

Purpose: To encourage graduate students to consistently present papers at the annual AATK conference

Eligibility and Criteria:

• Candidates must be Associate (full time student) Members of the AATK at the time of conference presentation and enrolled in an accredited Master’s or Doctorate degree program.
• Candidates must present solo papers or joint papers with peer graduate students at the annual AATK conference.
• Priority will be given to those who have attended AATK conferences at least once.
• Not allowed to be awarded more than twice per individual
• No restrictions based on the recipient’s country of residence

AATK Kong & Park Scholarly Award (two awards of $1,000 per year)

Description:

·       Each year, two Korean Language in America (KLA) manuscript submitters will receive $1,000 each.

·       Every five years, one of these recipients will be awarded the AATK Kong & Park Achievement Award ($5,000), regardless of academic rank or employment status.

Purpose: To encourage graduate students to submit manuscripts toKorean Language in America (KLA).

Eligibility and Criteria:

• Candidates must be Associate (full time student) Members of the AATK at the time of manuscript submission to KLA and enrolled in an accredited Master’s or Doctorate degree program.
• Priority will be given to those who have attended AATK conferences at least once.
• One-time award per individual (if submission volume is low, a second award to the same individual may be considered).
• No restrictions based on the recipient’s country of residence
• The AATK Kong & Park Achievement Award will be selected from among previous recipients of the AATK Kong & Park Scholarly Award (regardless of current employment or student status).

AATK Kong & Park Achievement Award (one award of $5,000 every five years)

Purpose: To encourage graduate students to submit manuscripts to Korean Language in America (KLA).

Eligibility and Criteria:

From among the recipients of the AATK Kong & Park Scholarly Award over a five-year period, one individual (regardless of academic rank or employment status) will be selected to receive the AATK Kong & Park Achievement Award ($5,000).
