Sejong Institute at the Korean Cultural Center Washington DC, Embassy of
the Republic of Korea invites applications to expand its
pool of dedicated Korean language and culture instructors. Applications
are
accepted year-round; for openings during the fall 2012 semester, please
send
applications by August 20.
Positions
are generally part-time, teaching various evening classes offered at the
embassy’s cultural center. Classes are generally beginner level, with some
intermediate and advanced/heritage classes as well. Instructors can take
advantage of a flexible curriculum and opportunities for innovative teaching,
and may also have the opportunity to develop and lead new cultural and youth
programs. After a first semester of teaching, new instructors will be
considered for inclusion in the embassy’s regular pool of instructors who have
the opportunity to teach throughout the year in spring, summer, and fall
sessions. Instructors are contracted per semester in close coordination with
embassy staff, and scheduling is flexible. Salary is a standard per-course
rate, and reflects university teaching experience. Instructors should have experience
teaching adults, preferably at a college or university, and be passionate about
Korean culture. For fall 2012 classes, please apply by August 20.
