[University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill] Visiting Lecturer in Korean

The Department of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for a Korean language instructor for fall 2026. We are seeking a skilled language instructor with a commitment to a proficiency-based approach to language teaching. The pay is $8,500 per course section; this is a temporary position that carries no benefits. We will also consider applicants located in the United States who would teach remotely.

The instructor we’re seeking will teach three sections of Elementary Korean in fall, with a possible opportunity for additional sections in spring. Other responsibilities include holding office hours and participating in program meetings and cultural enrichment activities.

Classes meet 4 days a week (Monday through Thursday) for 50 minutes, at the following times:
• MW 11:15-12:05 & TR 11:05-11:55
• MTWR 2:30-3:20
• MTWR 3:35-4:25

This position requires an MA, preferably in Korean language pedagogy or a related field, and native or near-native proficiency in Korean and English. Experience teaching Korean as a second language at the university level, particularly in the US, is preferred.
