[University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill ] Lecturer in Korean (Extended deadline: July 7, 2025)

The Department of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for a Korean language instructor for fall 2025. We are seeking a skilled language instructor with a commitment to a proficiency-based approach to language teaching. The pay is $8,000-9,000 per course section. The instructor we’re seeking will teach two or three sections in fall, with a possible opportunity for one more in spring. This is a temporary position that carries no benefits. Classes meet 4 days a week (Monday through Thursday) at the following times: MW 11:15-12:05 & TR 11:05-11:55, MTWR 2:30-3:20, MW 1:25-2:15 & TR 1:30-2:20. We will also consider applicants located in the United States who would teach remotely.

This instructor will teach elementary and/or intermediate Korean. Other responsibilities include holding office hours and participating in program meetings and cultural enrichment activities.

MA, preferably in Korean language pedagogy or a related field.

Native or near-native proficiency in Korean and English. Experience teaching Korean as a second language at the university level, particularly in the US, is preferred.
