These free STARTALK Day Camps https://www.startalk.info/ in critical languages are funded by a US government grant, a collaboration of the Departments of State, Education, Homeland Security, and Defense, and conducted by Concordia Language Villages.
The ULTIMATE goal and the reason the program is federally funded is to advance interest in these languages for younger learners who will, hopefully, maintain that interest through university studies, and eventually become proficient speakers of these critical languages who might someday work in education, government, or private sector business.
